What is Happiness?

There are many meanings of happiness.

Has anyone ever answered the question: What is happiness? There are probably many meanings that can be found in Wikipedia or in the different dictionaries in today’s world, but what exactly does it mean or imply? Is there a true understanding?

In my opinion, yes. There is.

In the world of philosophy, there is an eternal bliss. This is more spiritual, philosophical or religious.

In reality, in today’s world, it is a STATE OF MIND.

Or you can call it a state of feeling. This is not a tough thing to accomplish or something that will need a lot of effort. It is as simple as starting to think you are happy for every moment or for whatever comes. It starts within.

For some, getting a car makes them happy … but once you get that car, you will have issues with insurance, road rage and what not! For others its … once I get a girlfriend or boyfriend, I will be happy. What happens when the girlfriend or boyfriend gives grief or always talks negative? These are excuses we frame in our minds. Once this – then that …

Start thinking: whatever adverse circumstances comes to my life, it is my life, my mind and heart. I will not let loose.

Start doing things that relax you – like playing golf, finding a new hobby, painting, the arts –something that keeps you busy. There is a saying that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Try to be creative, spread the word of doing well and think positive. Remember: it is all about your attitude.

There was once a story told about one of the wealthiest people on the planet … who was also one of the most unhappiest. He was constantly going around searching madly for happiness. During his search, someone approached him and let him to a home where a young girl was working. She was smiling and dancing, even though she was cleaning and wearing tattered clothing. The next day, he went and bought the girl a new dress and gave it to her. She was happy, just like the previous day. The next day, she kept her new dress in her closet and came back out with same old torn outfit and was still very happy. Then he realized … it is not the clothes, it is her state of mind.  This changed him forever and made him realize that no matter what happens, I can stay positive and happy!!

Happiness brings smiles! Happiness brings laughter! Happiness is the key of life.
