From a Small Beginning to an International Achievement
Some moments in life remind us that dreams, hard work, and persistence can truly change our path.
In March 2016, I experienced one of those moments when I was selected as one of 24 Foreign Delegates from the United States to attend IndiaSoft 2016, an international B2B IT conference held in Mumbai, India.
This opportunity allowed me to represent the United States while reconnecting with the country where my journey began.
An Opportunity to Connect Globally
IndiaSoft brought together technology leaders from around the world.
During the conference, I had the opportunity to meet and interact with more than 150 Indian IT companies and over 400 IT buyers and delegates representing more than 70 countries, including:
- Latin America
- Africa
- Europe
- Japan
- And many other regions
The event showcased innovation, entrepreneurship, and the growing impact of technology across the globe.
Being part of this international gathering was an incredible honor.
Remembering Where It All Began
My journey to this moment started very differently.
I was born and raised in Tamil Nadu, India. Early in my career, I worked as a Data Entry Operator in the Income Tax Department—a stable government position that provided security and helped me support myself.
However, deep inside, I knew I wanted something more.
I had a passion for technology, learning, and personal growth. I wanted to challenge myself and prove that with determination, a person can create opportunities beyond their circumstances.
Following a Dream Across the World
For many years, I dreamed of coming to the United States.
I would read motivational articles, study opportunities, and even visit the U.S. Embassy in Madras to watch ABC News and learn more about life in America.
Many people doubted whether my dreams were possible, but I never gave up.
On May 16, 1996, that dream became reality.
I arrived in the United States on a work visa and began building a new chapter of my life. My career took me through different states, including Georgia and South Dakota, before eventually bringing me to Orlando, Florida, where I made my home.
A Full-Circle Moment
Returning to India in 2016 as a Foreign Delegate from the United States was more than a professional achievement.
It was a reminder of how far determination, faith, and hard work can take us.
From my early days in Tamil Nadu to becoming an international technology professional, entrepreneur, speaker, and community leader, this journey has been filled with lessons and opportunities.
One of the greatest joys was knowing that this accomplishment made my mother proud.
Dreams may take time. The path may not always be easy. But with perseverance, passion, and belief in yourself, extraordinary things can happen.
