Your Starting Point Doesn’t Define Your Future
There was a time when I worked as a Lower Division Clerk in the Ministry of Education in New Delhi, India.
Later, I worked as a Data Entry Operator, wondering what the future might hold.
Like many people, I had big dreams—but I also faced plenty of obstacles along the way.
One experience has stayed with me for many years.
One Closed Door Doesn’t End the Journey
Early in my career, I tried to submit my résumé at Oracle in India.
I wasn’t even allowed through the front gate.
At the time, it was disappointing.
But looking back, I realize that one closed door did not determine my future.
Instead of giving up, I continued learning, improving my skills, and believing that better opportunities were still ahead.
The Journey Comes Full Circle
Eventually, I immigrated to the United States.
Years later, I joined Oracle Corporation, where I built a rewarding career that spanned 16 years.
Along the way, I had the privilege of serving the Oracle community in leadership roles, including being elected Membership Chair of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OATUG) for two consecutive terms.
I also served as President of the Florida Oracle Applications Users Group, working alongside talented professionals and helping strengthen the Oracle community.
These opportunities taught me that persistence often leads us to places we once thought were out of reach.
Giving Back
One of the proudest moments of my career came in 2016, when I was selected as one of only 24 delegates from the United States to participate in the IndiaSoft International IT Forum, an initiative supported by the Government of India.
Returning to my home country as part of an international technology delegation was both humbling and deeply meaningful.
It reminded me how far determination, education, and perseverance can take us.
Believe in Yourself
None of these experiences happened overnight.
They happened because I refused to stop believing in my goals—even when others doubted me.
There will always be people who tell you something is impossible.
There will always be setbacks.
But your future is not determined by someone else’s opinion.
Set goals.
Keep learning.
Work hard.
Believe in yourself, especially when no one else does.
You Have a Purpose
Every person has unique talents and the ability to make a positive difference.
Don’t allow temporary obstacles to become permanent excuses.
Your current situation is only one chapter of your story—not the ending.
Keep moving forward.
Keep believing.
And never stop chasing your dreams.
You are capable of accomplishing far more than you imagine.
