You Can Do It

I was a Lower Division Clerk in the Ministry of Education in New Delhi, India.

I also worked as a Data Entry Operator.

Since then, I came to the USA and worked for Oracle Corporation for 16 years.

This is after the gatekeeper in Oracle India would not even allow me to enter to submit my resume.

I have been a member of the Oracle Applications Users Technology Group (OATUG previously called OAUG) a Membership Chair for the entire Oracle world in the USA. I was elected for 2 consecutive years.

I had the opportunity to travel back to India through the government of India as 1 of only 24 people selected for the India Soft Program in 2016. This program was meant to build a collaboration between Indian IT industries and US companies. (At that time, I had founded two companies. They are all closed now.)

I was also a member of the Florida Oracle Applications Users Group President for a year or so.

All this would not have happened to me if I didn’t think I could do it. We have to motive ourselves.

We have to set goals, even when others are discouraging you – just as it happened to me.

I hope this inspires you to go out and chase your dreams. You can achieve higher things in the world. You have a purpose in this world. Keep going.

Never Give Up

All these experiences I’m writing about today are totally my own. It may not apply to any person. I just wanted to talk about how I have managed with all these roadblocks and hindrances.

This one is related to eyes…

My father got his first pair of eyeglasses when he was 34 years old. (He is no more now).

I got my first pair of eyeglasses when I was 18.

My son got his first pair of eyeglasses when he was 8 years old.

My how things change in this world.

Now, I have had macular degeneration for three years. My right eye has deteriorated, and I cannot read fine print. I find myself making a ton of mistakes in my emails or messages whenever I send them to professional colleagues or personal friends. So please excuse me if you see any errors in grammar or spelling.

I currently have a surgery scheduled for my right eye on June 17th 2024.

If I start complaining about it, does that really help me in my life? Am I not able to think of Ms. Helen Keller, one of the greatest authors, who was deaf and blind? She had a huge impact on the lives of many people.

We should always learn to overcome hurdles and obstacles in life and never give up. It is said: “Do everything you can. Then trust in God to fill the blanks”.

The moral of this story is to never give up on your dreams, ambitions, or passions. Always remember perseverance wins in the end. Take the hits and keep going.
